Running into the Home Stretch

Scholars are aware that we are only 5 weeks away from finishing the school year! As we move forward let's continue to move strong and collect all the knowledge that we can along the way!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -  THERE WILL BE A GRADUATION MEETING IN MRS. GOERS' ROOM RIGHT AFTER SCHOOL ON THE 29TH OF APRIL. WE NEED MOMS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN HELPING OUT WITH THE CEREMONY TO ATTEND. SCHOLARS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO ATTEND GRADUATION, IT IS ONLY FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO BE THERE, AND THERE WILL BE FEES INVOLVED. IF PARENTS DO NOT VOLUNTEER WE WILL NOT HAVE A CEREMONY. GRADUATION IS SLATED FOR JUNE 2ND AT 6:30 P.M. AT ALPINE CHURCH IN RIVERDALE.

Over the past couple weeks we have finished up a unit on Immigration in History class. Mrs. Ramos was kind enough to bring in and share an immigration trunk, complete with stickers from a family member of hers. She had a beautiful shawl as a piece that her relative brought with her when she was 17 years old and coming to the US. It was an incredibly interesting story. Thank you Mrs. Ramos!

We finished up a unit on Immunology after performing a couple of interesting experiments. Our Tomato Soup experiment turned out to be pretty gross looking by the time we were finished, but it proved a point about how bacteria works to grow in the perfect environment.

We also had a Speech and Debate Tournament this month and our scholars performed marvelously.
Congratulations to both Faith and Gabby for placing in the tournament this month! Faith will be representing GFA at the National Tournament in Kansas in June.

Congratulations also to Isaiah Marshall and Satchel Sproul who were honored at our assembly for Integrity. These two fine boys deserve their awards!
Lastly, if your scholar is wanting to participate in the Lagoon Trip on May 16th, please be certain that your scholar is either raising his or her funds or that you send in the ticket money before the 10th of May!
Thank you!

When in Rome, do as the Romans!

Just a quick peek of Julius Caesar's spot of cremation in the Forum in Rome....each section was corded off so we couldn't "relive" like we wanted to, but we did get some great shots....see below:

Heading into the Forum

Caesar's SPOT!

Square where he was murdered

Standing next to the site of his cremation

The spot of cremation, people throw coins and leave flowers even to this day....strange way to generate luck, considering Caesar was not very lucky that day!
