Reward for a Job Well Done, Yukon Quest Winners, a Bit of Itally and BIG CHANGES!

Lots of important announcements today scholars and parents! First of all the scholars earned a pizza party last Friday for increasing their scores as a class 168 points on the NWEA for math....phenomenal! Then we finished up our Call of the Wild novel and tallied points to find Emmett, Jaide and Mason's cohort to be the winners of the Yukon Quest Patches from Alaska! Congrats to all!
Caitlyn Lyle sent a purple and green Mardi Gras magnet to us this week with a post card of Venice! Some of us will be seeing her in just 12 days! We will spend the day together in Venice. :) Thank you Caitlyn...the class misses you!

This is our last week of third quarter. Scholars should be practicing the new Sage Test at home with parents. We have discovered that it runs on Google Chrome and Firefox, but not so well on Explorer 11. Email Mrs. Goers if you have questions. There are practice tests for the scholars to play with and get familiar with out on the site. We have done some in class, but the more comfortable they are with the portal, the better.

Friday we will be cleaning out our desks, racks, etc. in the classroom. Scholars will be hearing a "bell" at the end of each class, will be expected to leave the room, and be back at the door within three minutes. Please be sure scholars are to school on time as their tardies are now working against them for privileges. They will go to their lockers between classes, be expected to use the bathroom on their own and be expected to handle themselves properly in the halls at all times. All the teachers will be aware of their new responsibilities and will be on the look out for scholars who are struggling with being responsible. Any teacher can stop a scholar, ask for their name, and report them to Mr. Keddington or me. We hope we can prove our maturity this fourth quarter. Scholars are working hard!

Scholars will be responsible to have all of the items that are currently under their racks with them for every class. Any teacher can expect a dictionary, thesaurus, pencils, ruler, compass, etc. therefore students will be allowed to carry a backpack, but it will not be housing their entire locker. They can also carry a small bag like our Grandiloquent Guardians shoulder sack. Some of the girls like to bring a smaller book bag instead of carrying their backpack all day. whatever works for them is fine, as long as they have everything they need for all of their classes. It will take a couple weeks of getting used to the new system, and we have spring break after the first week, so we should be in the swing of things by the third week of April.

Scholars will be reviewing third quarter goals this morning and bringing them home to discuss. Grading ends Friday.

Have a splendid Tuesday!
